The Project

The default standard parts of the CAD system Inventor didn't reach the requirements of Andritz' engineers by far. Further it was important to integrate the catalogs of regular suppliers close to CAD and at a central point. For implementation of PARTsolutions, the system vendor E&S IT Consulting was responsible, caused by deep confidence and a long-time well collaboration. CADENAS and PARTsolutions also were positive well-known names for the persons in charge of the project.

Even though a big number of orders had to be served, the implementation of PARTsolutions at the location Graz succeeded in a very short time. Thanks to a big personal commitment of involved project leaders and the courage to implement a new system, an innovative solution was realized. The smooth and quick implementation of Inventor and PARTsolutions signifies Andritz' access into the world of 3D. Any existing project could be handled on schedule and without problems without disadvantages for any customer. An in-house training concept completed the installation of PARTsolutions and helped the engineers at the first steps with PARTsolutions in combination with Inventor.

Benefits

The big benefit of PARTsolutions at Andritz is in first line the supply and use of several standard parts and connections conforming to standards from the screwed connection tool PARTconnection. Within a few weeks noticeable cost reductions were realized.

Significant ease was made in CAD support, which is responsible for the supply of CAD geometries. Andritz' advantage with PARTsolutions is, to have the necessary 2D/3D geometries of regular suppliers native and ordered in a library in future. Hitherto parts of supplier catalogs were stored decentralised at the respective subsidiaries. Thus together with procurement department, a further project will be the integration of regular supplier data within PARTsolutions.

PARTsolutions

PARTsolutions on the one hand is an extensive norm and supplier part library that supplies norms and standard parts, product catalogs, assemblies and company specific norms for any CAD in the native format. Any part supplied by PARTsolutions is intelligent, that means there is much more information within a part than just the geometries. Integrated tools like shaft generator, screwed connection tool or calculation assistants vastly speed up the work of engineers.

On the other hand PARTsolutions can be upgraded to a real parts management system by linking the part library to existing ERP/PPS or PDM/PLM systems with standard interfaces. The advantages of this constellation are easy and secure administration of any part in company, a role specific view/access of employees on parts as well as cost reduction caused on a doublet reduced, slim part portfolio.
